It’s hard to describe First Bite Senior Youth Theatre, but the closest most people ever get is ‘family’. It never really feels like a professional drama company, and that’s a good thing, because very very quickly, it just becomes part of your natural life.

You start off as one of the young’uns, you look up to those older personalities leading the group, watch them, learn from them, and before you know it have ended up in that very same spot yourself. The group facilitates you to grow as a human, and by extension, that enables the group to grow too.

The quality of storytelling is never anything short of remarkable. The passion everyone has for the company gets channelled into the characters, the scripts, producing content that most people would expect of writers double the members’ age.

You can find groups to learn the skills of theatre left right and centre, places where you can truly fall in love with it are very rare, and places where it becomes a fundamental part of you, almost non-existent – First Bite is one of those places.
