There are two First Bite Youth Theatres: Juniors (7-11) and Seniors (12-18).

Unlike the drama classes which are organised by the term, Youth Theatre programmes are annual. Two of the three terms are spent working towards full scale productions which are performed to the public. The Seniors write their own plays and also have an opportunity to explore the technical side of theatre including costume, set, props, publicity, administration, lighting and sound.

The third term is spent developing drama skills through improvisation, scene study, character work, role play etc. The annual programme ends in June when both groups come together for an End of Year show.

The Junior Youth Theatre is open to new members during the summer term, once the P7 members have moved up to the Senior Youth Theatre. For the rest of the time it, like the Senior YT, operates with a waiting list.

Day: Thursday
Times: 4.00 – 5.30pm (Juniors), 6.00 – 8.00pm (Seniors)
Venue: Southside Community Centre
Price: £5.50 p/week, payable by the term, plus annual membership fee of £15

You can find groups to learn the skills of theatre left right and centre. Places where you can truly fall in love with it are very rare, and places where it becomes a fundamental part of you, almost non-existent – First Bite is one of those places.

First Bite Senior YT Participant / March 2019

Rebecca’s drama group is the highlight of the week for both my kids. They learn so much about all aspects of the theatre, not just the acting but also character development, script writing, stage and costume design, marketing, teamwork, and more. ‘Star Crossed’ was a triumph – an inspired script and amazing maturity from the young actors.

Parent Feedback / March 2019

A fantastic adventure to be part of for 11 years of my life. Along the way I have made life long friends, gained skills and confidence and formed great memories that will stay with me forever.
