First Bite memories…

The excitement of a new play! Finding out which character you were.

* Gave light to long mundane high school days

* Gave that part of my life a sense of direction and purpose

* Inspired me to want to be an actor (which didn’t end up happening, but was a nice idea at the time, and made me realise the joy of performing – which I still do a bit of now – mainly physical theatre)

*Sense of community, responsibility, professionalism – felt like we were treated (for the first time) as adults

* My first experience of Role Play! Massively enjoyed this.

* First experience of doing a scripted play; enjoyed process of learning lines/becoming and embodying a character and process of working toward a shared goal/shared experiences

* For someone very anxious and introverted, with difficulty making connections with people in my own peer group (me!)– First Bite was a revelation. Gave a structure, and sense of shared purpose/experience – to help and enable building of relationships

* As a psychiatrist now, and having worked within CAMHS (child and adolescent mental health) I would gladly “prescribe” this as part of a treatment plan – if that were possible!
